What is Plug Aeration?

How Plug Aeration Works
During plug aeration, a core aerator is used to pull out cylindrical plugs of soil, typically about 0.5 to 0.75 inches in diameter and 2 to 6 inches apart. The removed plugs are left on the lawn surface to decompose and return nutrients to the soil.
